N- getting up on the wrong side of the bed

Who knew there was a word for that? I certainly did not.. nor did I get up on the wrong side of the bed today. In fact in a twin bed, I dare say there better not be a wrong side, otherwise I might end up on the floor..

I'm quite excited about this post because I want to share a recent gift I received. It means so much to me and I'm so proud to be the owner of it.. I took pictures! (Thanks Jon for camera use..)

Love, Love, Love...

That my friends, is my Great, Great, GREAT Grandmother's wedding ring. I just got it back from the jeweler's yesterday after having it fixed up and fitted to my finger. It's an absolutly gorgeous ring that I love, love, love.

But what I love even more is that it has been worn by the women in my family for the past 100 or so years. It's amazing to me, that somehow this has made it to me, and can now reside on my hand. The events this ring went through! Honestly, I'm wearing a piece of family history and that in itself is priceless. I received the ring (which was actually attached to another ring that belonged to my Great Grandmother, I had them seperated) from my grandpa as a Christmas gift. It had belonged to my Grandma since her mother had given it to her about 15 years ago. My grandma has since passed a few years ago, but my Great Grandma is still very much alive and kicking :) The only stipulation given by my Grandpa is that I pass the ring onto my children one day, (well duh!).

I could not thank him enough and still am so grateful that out of all the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, I somehow managed to receive this amazing gift... I'm not sure why I was chosen, but I have a feeling it's because they knew that I would treasure and honor it.

Please ignore the fact that I'm quite pale...

My Great Grandma recently found a picture of her mother and father back in the 1920's all dressed up in your typical zoot suit and flapper attire. It was by far the coolest family picture I've found. All of this just reminds me of how we truly are all connected in this crazy world. To think that the woman who wore this ring before me, existed so many years ago, but is kept alive through the memory of family stories is fascinating to me. It makes me wonder if our generation and subsequent others will have the same impact that our ancestors did. Will my great, great, great grandchild, 100 years from now be at all concerned with her old granny who existed way back during the Millennium? What kind of world will she be living in? It's all so interesting to think about..

Jon also brought me a fortune cookie, which I love, because the "fortunes" always make me feel like something awesome is about to happen :) I'm not superstitous, its just fun to think about.. In any case, here's my fortune..

Hmm, something to live up to this week :) I shall try something new, remind me to post about it!

I hope your all having a wonderful week!

Always,
K
